Roof Scans

INFRARED SURVEYS CAN PIN POINT ISSUES AS WELL

AS EXTEND THE LIFE OF YOUR ROOF WHILE SAVING MONEY

Infrared roof moisture surveys using top infrared technology combined with HEAT SEEKING’S expertise and experience in this area can help you to maximize the installer’s guarantees / warranties. The equipment used is very sensitivity piece of equipment which will allow HEAT SEEKING to conclusively pinpoint areas of suspected moisture which may be over looked with conventional methods and allows you to address issues when they are smaller in nature.

Statistics show that often almost 30% of new roofs will have any issues which may show up as leaks with in the first 12 – 24 months and possibly even as soon as any major moisture accumulation occurs. This invaluable service can prevent costly problems from occurring right from when a new roof is installed. This information is also often used to create a situation were a roof can be repaired and restored rather than resorting to the high cost of replaced it.

Infrared surveys are performed optimally 24hrs after precipitation or wetting down of roof and up to 5 days in some cases. The survey is conducted after sunset following a clear, sunny day. During the daytime, a roof system is heated by absorbing the sun’s infrared energy. After sunset, the roof begins to cool off, releasing this energy while areas of entrapped moisture retain the thermal energy that has been absorbed. The result of the survey is a clear video picture indicating areas of suspected moisture as hot color on the scale of the color palate that is used, and dryer areas will show as a colder color on the scale.

To achieve greater accuracy, HEAT SEEKING routinely verifies areas of suspected moisture with other non-destructive instruments. With the use of capacitance meters provide correlated information that can be used to confirm suspected entrapped moisture.

HEAT SEEKING is also capable of providing if a client requires and Auto CAD/IR drawing which program provides you with a scaled map of your roof with the infrared findings outlined on the drawing, pointing out all areas of suspected moisture and the relative moisture content within. You receive pictures of the inspection along with individual thermograms of problem areas, still photographs of the survey, which indicate the specific location of suspected moisture and a color plotted CAD/IR map. A complete thermal inspection of your roof’s integrity will allow you to use this information to assist in making appropriate decisions regarding the repair and/or replacement of your roof as well as assisting an organization with long term budgeting plans for costly repairs or replacements.
